The so-called Crepe de Chine was conceived in Lyon in 1820, as an imperfect imitation of Chinese silk fabric.

Crepe or crepe is a lightweight, testurised fabric. with a beautiful drape and fold. This luxurious silk has the additional virtue of great durability and excellent crease resistance.
light, soft fabric made by twisting some fibres in opposite directions, woven on a flat-weave loom. The twisted fibres give it the characteristic crepe (roughness and lustre shiny on both sides). This type of silk absorbs a large amount of dye and therefore gives a great richness and depth to the colours.

It is undoubtedly one of the most versatile silk fabrics, which can be used to make all types of garments and accessories and is suitable for both casual and formal styling.
